Life

A journey beyond numbers. Thoughts on turning 30.

Dear diary,

Here’s a more personal one.

In a world that pushes us relentlessly towards achieving, excelling, and constantly presenting our best selves, turning 30 can often feel like a checkpoint we’re not quite ready for. It’s that age where society, knowingly or unknowingly, expects us to have “arrived”. But what if you feel like you’re still en route?

I’ve walked that path and grappled with those self-imposed markers of success. Like many, I’ve also fallen into the trap of seeking external validation, while also reminding myself repeatedly that there’s nothing to prove. Yet, when the calendar page turned and 30 stared back at me, those daunting questions about life, purpose, and direction resurfaced.

Are You Truly There Yet?

The notion of “having it all figured out by 30” can be unnerving. Do we really need to have concrete answers for every facet of our life? While it’s heartening to meet those who’ve achieved clarity, it’s equally valid to be in a space of exploration and introspection.

Values evolve. Priorities shift. We’re perennial works in progress, and that’s not just okay, it’s the essence of human growth.

A Look Back Through the Lenses of Time

In my own journey, reflections bring forth a mix of gratitude and subtle yearnings. While I treaded on the safer side, often held back by the perceived judgments of others, I wonder now: what if I’d pushed the boundaries a bit more?

The moments where I dared to step outside my comfort cocoon? Those were the ones shimmering with unforgettable experiences. Those were the instances when life truly happened.

Your Path, Your Story

So, if you’re navigating the winding roads of life, amidst doubts, dreams, and the number 30 looming or long past, remember this:

Be kind – to yourself and others.
Be true – embrace your unique journey.
And above all, be bold.

Each story, every encounter, and all the places you’ll wander hold lessons. Seize them. Grow from them. And revel in the ever-evolving adventure that is life.
